My work is focused on growing and improving; building upon what I have learned and created in the past. Once I’ve completed a project, I begin thinking of ways I could have done it differently. I then want to start something new, expanding and building on what I’ve just accomplished to see where my new thought process takes me. No matter how much I plan and experiment before I start my piece, my thoughts will always wander to something else that will change things up for the next piece.
I want to expand on things that I have made in the past while using the same material, cable, or technique from before. I have been influenced by traditional knitting, like the cabled Aran sweaters as well as traditional fair isle sweaters and I am inspired by nature and soft colours. Using what has influenced me and what inspires me, I want to combine knit and apparel to make comfortable pieces that can be worn everyday.
In the future, I want to continue to create new knitwear pieces as well as write knitting patterns so that others can create my designs themselves.
