Kelsey BlanchardKelsey Blanchard is a second-year Textile & Apparel Design student, soon to graduate from the College
of the North Atlantic. Her primary focus within her second year is surface design, along with apparel design and creation. Kelsey uses techniques like rug-hooking, embroidery, and applique, to create one-of-a-kind pieces which tell the story of “The Other World”, a concept that was inspired by her dreams. She also created an apparel line with a mystical and fantasy base aesthetic, that represents each of the five elements: Earth, Air, Fire, Water, & Spirit. Her best designs and creations start with no intention, just a mindless doodle. With a pen or pencil and something to draw on, she lets her hand move as it wishes in a stream of consciousness. After a minute or two of drawing random marks, her mind starts to see something within the mess and a new idea is created. Kelsey Blanchard is currently based out of St. John’s, N.L, and is looking forward to using the knowledge and experience gained throughout this program to create a successful career within the textile and apparel world. |
