Deanna (Dee) CoombsDeanna Coombs was born in St. John's and was quickly scooped up by a loving family in Corner Brook. Deanna started out painting plaster characters, then making her own plaster molds to paint.
The sewing world came to Deanna at an older age when she started handmaking bags. Deanna quickly realized that apparel is where she belongs with her crazy fabrics and bold mix of colours. She also creates mixed media artworks, using natural or chemical dye and fabric paint. Her mixed media artworks are characterized by taking daily life as subject matter. Using mixed techniques and materials, she considers the making of art a craft, which is executed using clear formal rules that should always refer to social reality. |
Hey I’m Dee! I am currently a textiles student who loves to be up in the dye studio playing with natural or chemical dyes. You can also find me painting on fabric while waiting for my dyes to set, or down with the sewing machines making some dresses in wild fabrics.
