Navneet KaurNavneet Kaur was born in 1993 in Patiala, located in Northern India. Navneet has had an interest in designing since childhood and designed little art projects in school. She has completed a Masters of Sociology in 2017 at Punjabi University, Patiala. Navneet was keen to have a platform to work on her ideas and abilities.
She married in 2016 and a baby boy in 2018. She had much less time to work on her interest of making art pieces. She decided to come to to Newfoundland and Labrador to enroll in the Textile & Apparel Design program instead of pursuing an art education in India. Navneet is planning to make the province her home and is waiting for the restrictions to lift so her husband and son can join her. |
" I enjoy all the textiles techniques which I am exploring. My favourite is hand embroidery. I love the colours, textures and value contrast that can be achieved. The best part is that it creates a delicate art piece with needle and threads. Embroidery is a good way to express emotions and mood. I feel a piece is successful when it displays all of the principles of design in one small piece. I also like the portability of embroidery, which allows me to work anywhere. I feel that hand embroidery successfully expresses my creativity."
