From the very beginning, Kaitlin Hickey displayed a passion for creative expression. After graduating from high school, Hickey took some time to explore many different creative outlets from hairstyling to ornamental concrete design until she finally settled into visual arts.
In September of 2019 Hickey enrolled in the Textile & Apparel Design program at the College of the North Atlantic. It is here where she discovered her passion for apparel and textile surface design. Focusing mainly on hand-dye natural apparel pieces, Kaitlin brings to life her emotions and tells a story though art in ways many can relate to.
" Art to me is a direct expression of emotion and self. The art I create is driven by this idea. Exploring a range of hums emotions, from serenity to chaos, it is my mission to evoke an open acceptance of pleasure and pain. By developing art that inspires an audience to explore meaningful reflection it grants them the courage to express their true selves.
In combination with a passion for storytelling and natural materials, my creations will encourage you to look a little deeper into your own heart and mind and to that of those around you."
