Angel StrongIn a beautiful, but often harsh and painful world Angel Strong is a Newfoundland based textile artist who finds catharsis in creation. Often preferring a fantasy world to reality her work plays with changes in colour and texture to weave her fantasies into reality. Angel contrasts her fantastical worlds with reality through the use of various soft textures and sharp, vivid colours.
Expressing herself through textiles, Angel provides a glimpse into the chaos and solitude of her creativity. The passion that accompanies the suffering and agony of reality is simultaneously universal and deeply personal. Angel prefers to live in a fantasy world where passion and emotion flow wild and free, and through her work invites you to join her there. |
In this world of hardship and pain I find catharsis in creation. I am drawn to the similarities and vast differences between mankind and the wild spirit of animals. Humans are naught but animals. Inspired by that wild spirit I create fantastical worlds populated by fantastical creatures and monsters alike; expressing my inner turmoil and peace.
I create a world in my mind when I am planning a piece and choose the elements that are vital to express my desired emotion or meaning. While unifying a concept for creation I like to play with changes in texture and colour to evoke my desired response. I contrast my fantastical worlds with reality through the use of various soft textures and splashes of sharp, vivid colours in a sea of tonal grays. Expressing myself through textiles gives a glimpse into the chaos and solitude of my creativity. The passion that accompanies the suffering and agony of life is simultaneously universal and deeply personal. Relatable. I prefer to live in a fantasy world where passion and emotion flow wild and free and through my work I invite you to join me.
